Wonderful Maleficent

So I've decided, and sadly, to put the comic book on hiatus until I feel out my timing with the awesome upcoming debut of my son. In the meantime, I'll still be doing random character prints.

Robin Leap

Originally suppose to be a Batman and Robin homage to Batman #1, the Robin looked too good tonally to allow a Batman to ruin it.

Batman Villians

So I set my sites for Batman and his rogue gallery - the most colorful in all of comicdom. Best part about these are, I'm practicing for a bit of a tweak in style for when I do the next Skyscraper comic. If it isn't noticeable already, it will be by the next few upcoming prints.

I did it again. I made the pic too small to make big prints out of. Oh's just The Blob.

Hydra Camp

Here's my Captain America. Unfortunately I only saved the low res, so I won't be making giant prints of this come next year.

Something Mental

I'm still working on some prints for next year's cons. Then I'm going back to new Skyscraper #1, which takes place after the events of Cowboys and Angels. See the Inherited Rise of Charming. Each issue will be 34-36 pages and hopefully I'll make them so I can format it to iphone and tablet devices. That's the plan for now.

SPX, Thumbnails, and The Future

SPX turned out to be a fantastic experience.  Met a lot of awesome people and got to look at a lot of amazing work.  I also had the opportunity to show a lot of my work to a new crop of audience.

For no particular reason, below is my thumbnail to layout pics of my fourth issue (page 20).  I'm still working on some mainstream prints to show at Baltimore in 2012 and will probably work on a children's comic based on a group of animal characters I made a few years ago, called Menagerie Bizarre.  After that, it's back to Skyscraper with a new limited series called "The Inherited Rise of Charming" which will dive into Charming's endeavors to find a new market for his illegal 'bubblegum' racket and a boxing promotion.

Straw Spiders

I'm working on comic prints at the moment to drive a little traffic at the cons, and just for the fun of it. Plus they're quick and easy to make. Here's a Dustin Hoffman-inspired Spider-man.

Missed me in Baltimore? - Come to SPX in Bethesda Sept. 10 & 11

My first of many Baltimore Comic Cons is over and I can say from the accrued knowledge I gained, I can call it a real success! Lesson #1: MAKE PRINTS! So, instead of working on Issue 5 this fall, I will be working on making prints for the next big cons. I'll resume in early 2012 for the three part "Inherited Rise of Charming" story (with the help of the newest edition to the Anderson family in January).
Anyway, if you missed me at the Baltimore Comic Con, don't fret - I'll be at the Small Press Expo selling on Sept. 10 & 11 at the Bethesda North Marriot Convention Center.
5701 Marinelli Rd.
Bethesda, MD 20852
Open 11-7 (Saturday) 12-6 (Sunday)

I had a lot of fun making this image for issue 3. Luscious Suit has had enough!

Before the Finished Panel

I just wanted to unwrapped a pre-photoshop magic pic before it gets integrated on to a full page. Most of the drawings I do are directly made on Photoshop and I usually have to pay careful attention to the panels around it. Everything's a work in progress!

Unused Panel for Issue 3

Cause I'd hate to have random art go to waste. Surprisingly, this still took a half hour to make.

And the ground breaks for Issue #3

While the Issue 1 redo is being edited and submitted again, I've started on Issue 3. Here's the third panel on the first page.

Back Inside Cover for Issue 1 Redo

The back inside cover of my first issue redo will be advertising the cover of the next issue. I decided to have a little fun with it and create a vintage record ad.

Issue 1 Redo

If you bought the first issue of Skyscraper, you're a lucky minority holding a gem! I bought a WACOM drawing board when I began the second issue, and the discrepancy in art was too great to ignore, so I am going back over the first issue to bring it up to par to the quality of the second. Issue #1 Second Edition will be coming out next month! Here's a preview of the changes being made:
